Roman Borgman, Director, CVAS

Bulgarian born and former resident of the capital city, Sofia, Mr. Borgman graduated from the Bulgarian National Conservatory with his Masters Degree in Opera Performance. His Professor was one of the most prominent baritones in Europe, Professor Sabin Marko.

In 1982 after a national competition, Mr. Borgman was accepted as a soloist of the National Opera Theater of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In 1984, after an international competition, Mr. Borgman was again accepted as a soloist with the Stralsund Opera Theater in Straslund, Germany. During his time in Germany, Mr. Borgman was invited as a guest soloist in many prominent German opera theaters.

Since his arrival, he has been busy teaching and participating in concerts throughout the US. In 1996 Mr. Borgman was a finalist of the Verismo Opera Competition held at Weill CARNEGIE HALL NY??? Critics have recognized him as a baritone possessing a rich, solid ringing voice. His repertoire includes masterpieces from the operas of Verdi, Wagner, Mozart, Borodin, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Giordano, Bizet, and Puccini.

Aside from his career as a singer, Mr. Borgman spent 5 years as an Assistant Stage Director at the Sofia National Opera. In this capacity he worked with such renowned opera personalities as Nikolai Ghiaurov, Mirella Freni, Ghena Dimitrova, Raina Kabaivanska, Piero Cappuccilli, Elena Obraztsova, Jose Carreras and others.

Mr. Borgman is the President of the Inter-Atlantic Music Foundation which he co-founded with Mr. Lucas Staridolski in 2000. The foundation was established to promote young artists.
